Alex Singleton recognized by Broncos ‘for his courage in the face of adversity’

Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton is the team’s recipient of the 2025 Ed Block Courage Award. 

The Broncos announced that news on Thursday and shared that Singleton was given the honor during a team meeting.

Singleton has overcome a lot in the last 15 months, including battling testicular cancer earlier this season. He even took the field against the Raiders after his diagnosis, then got surgery and missed only one game before returning.

“I’ve learned more in this past week just of compassion and empathy through a bunch of tough dudes than, you know, anything else I think I’ve ever gone through,” Singleton told Good Morning America in November.

And in their press release the Broncos also mentioned Alex Singleton won this award for what happened last season. He tore his ACL against the Buccaneers and still finished the game. He attacked the rehab process to make it back for the majority of 2025.

Singleton has played in 50 career games with the Broncos and totaled 469 tackles, three sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also leads Denver in tackles with 111 in his 14 games played this year.

Not only is he a great player on the field, but Alex Singleton is an exemplarily leader off of it. The decision to give him the award this season seems like a no-brainer. He earned it “for his courage in the face of adversity,” the Broncos said.

Recent recipients for the Broncos include P.J. Locke in 2024, Javonte Williams in 2023, KJ Hamler in 2022 and Courtland Sutton in 2021.

The Ed Block Courage Award is named in honor of Ed Block, the longtime head athletic trainer of the Baltimore Colts, who was a pioneer in his profession and a respected humanitarian. It’s a league-wide initiative that was first awarded in 1984.
