Travis Hunter now plays in the NFL, but today he graduated from CU

Former University of Colorado football star Travis Hunter got his degree on Thursday.

Two weeks after he was drafted into the NFL with the No. 2 overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It’s an awesome way for Hunter to close his career out in Boulder, earning a diploma with thousands of his classmates. Fittingly enough, the graduation ceremony was at Folsom Field, where Hunter did magical things as a football player.

It ended with him winning the Heisman Trophy in 2024 for his efforts, and being a coveted pro prospect who can play both wide receiver and cornerback at the NFL level.

“Graduated in three years,” Travis Hunter says in that second video.

It’s definitely impressive, considering Hunter was in college in 2022 at Jackson State and then in 2023 and 2024 at CU.

Hunter was named an Academic All-American at Colorado each of the last two years, and also had a 3.79 GPA while majoring in anthropology. He clearly took football very seriously — and the classroom as well.

The third photo above is also great because you can see Hunter wearing Jaguars gear under his cap and gown. And the final shot is iconic, with Hunter in front of his name enshrined forever at Folsom Field. He had his No. 12 retired by the Buffs last month.

What a cool moment and cool day for Travis Hunter. He represented CU very well both on and off the field, and now we’ll all be watching to see what he does in the NFL and in life.
