Four CU Buffs players named to Big 12 Team of the Week

The Colorado Buffaloes have had a very underwhelming season. They currently sit at 3-7 with just two games to play and have officially been eliminated from bowl contention following last week’s loss against West Virginia.

While Saturday’s contest was the third straight loss for Coach Prime’s Buffs in between their two bye weeks, there were some things to be happy about for fans. True freshman quarterback Julian Lewis got his first career start and finished with 299 yards and two touchdowns, Omarion Miller had his first 100-yard game of the season and a couple other young players made a statement in the loss.

The Buffs had four players named to Pro Football Focus’ Big 12 Team of the Week following the loss: Lewis, Miller, offensive lineman Yahya Attia and defensive tackle Brandon Davis-Swain.

Lewis and Miller showed that they have a one-of-a-kind chemistry with one another already despite playing such a limited amount of snaps. The combination of Lewis’ deep ball with Miller’s ability to climb the ladder and make contested catches was a revelation for fans to see, and if they both stay in Boulder for next season, could become one of the best connections in the country.

Miller had 131 yards and a touchdown on five catches. Lewis completed 22 of his 35 passes and didn’t throw an interception en route to his near-300-yard day.

Attia and Davis-Swain are both freshmen who have been great additions in the trenches for the Buffs this year. Attia has played center, left guard, right guard and has even made appearances as a sixth offensive lineman this season, while Davis-Swain has eaten up double teams inside on the defensive side of the ball when healthy.

Attia posted an 87.9 PFF blocking grade in Saturday’s game, while Davis-Swain totaled four tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble.

If they don’t transfer out, these four will be some of the most important players in the black and gold next season.
