Former CU Buffs WR lands with Packers after Broncos tryout last month

Former CU Buffs wide receiver Will Sheppard has signed with the Green Bay Packers, according to multiple reports.

Sheppard, who got a tryout with the Denver Broncos last month, isn’t a household name like Travis Hunter but was still solid during his time in Boulder under Coach Prime.

Sheppard played the first four years of his college career at Vanderbilt, before catching passes from Shedeur Sanders during the CU Buffs’ 2024 season. Last year, he hauled in 48 passes for 621 yards and six touchdowns.

In his five years on a college football field, Sheppard put up some impressive totals with 200 total receptions for more than 2,600 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Sheppard wasn’t drafted in April, but signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers shortly after. He was cut by them after a failed physical, then got a look from the Broncos during mini-camp and now lands with the Packers.

On paper, he looks like a training camp body, but we’ve seen guys shine during the preseason before and make rosters unexpectedly.

CU Buffs fans are certainly pulling for Sheppard to get a fair shot in Green Bay, as he flashed some serious skills during his lone season at Colorado.
