Did Coach Prime’s Buffs playbook leak at team hotel? Internet sleuths have evidence pointing to yes.
A viral post on a Texas Tech fan message board claimed Red Raiders supporters picked up the Colorado Buffaloes' playbook the night before the two squared off at Folsom Field — it looks to be true.

A viral post on a Texas Tech fan message board claimed Red Raiders supporters picked up the Colorado Buffaloes’ playbook the night before the two squared off at Folsom Field on Saturday. After the game, internet sleuths presented both the alleged CU playbook and game footage from the 29-7 Texas Tech win.
The comparison showed strong evidence that the dropped call sheet discovered by Red Raiders fans wanting to relay the information to the team was indeed really Deion Sanders’ team’s playbook.
“OK I’m not posting pics of it but a bunch of us are in the Colorado team hotel at the bar and we found a 25 page or so playbook that I would bet large amounts of money on is the actual CU playbook,” a poster called VivaTerlingua wrote in his ON3 message board post. “It’s got opening plays, red zone info, our tendencies, etc. etc… Seriously, how can we get this to the Texas Tech team? Does anybody know know what hotel they’re staying at?”
The first play shared from the alleged playbook shows “(TOP GUN) LONDON – GUN PINS RT EYE OAKLAND CLOTH LONDON SPECIAL.” The play features a jet sweep from the left side to a pass where both receivers on the right side cross while the tailback leaks out left. The first CU play from scrimmage was exactly that, resulting in a gain of a couple on a check down pass from backup quarterback Kaneal Sweetwyne to the starter Isaac Wilson.
The Buffaloes’ only seven points of the game did come on the scripted first drive so, even if Texas Tech had this info, it didn’t help them much to start the game.
The second play, “(5 GUYS) BOLT – GUN GUAD LT 2 JILL GO’S” was a fake screen to the left side with a few receivers going deep. Colorado found one of those roaming receivers for a first down.
The video below shows a lot of the first drive, copied up like-for-like with the alleged playbook that was claimed to be found at the hotel the Buffaloes team stays at the night before the game. Yes, they do stay together even before home games at Folsom Field.
Update: It was real. 1st six plays of the first half and 1st two of the second half (then picked off) https://t.co/M6F018Ib4J pic.twitter.com/BkNt6Ov475

The Buffs first touch of the second half, when the team still had a 7-3 lead shows Coach Prime’s team running the first two exact plays the claimed playbook said they would. The second play was another trick pass using a wide receiver, this time Joseph Williams took a pitch from the running back and sprinted right trying to find DeAndre Moore Jr. The Red Raiders defender was right there and intercepted the pass.
What was the play call? “ARLINGTON — GUN TRAIL RT OAKLAND BLANKET JOJO PASS EXIT.”
JoJo pass was the call. JoJo did pass, to the other team.
Did Texas Tech catch on by this point in the game?
The Buffs offense never scored after the initial drive of the night and the second half featured three others interceptions after the trick play, a punt and two turnovers on down. Almost like the Red Raiders knew what was coming and where the ball was going.
Colorado dropped to 2-3 (0-2) after the poor showing. After the game, Sanders blamed his quarterbacks play for CU’s lousy offensive input thus far this season. But is it fair to judge Wilson based on a game where the defense may have known what the play calls were?
The Buffaloes will have to work this out over their bye week when a lot of the talk will be if Wilson will get another shot or if CU will turn the ball back to hotshot prospect JuJu Lewis.
