Colorado Buffaloes to have next two games nationally televised

The Colorado Buffaloes look bad. They are coming off one of the most embarrassing losses in program history, a 53-7 trouncing against Utah on Saturday, and don’t have a ton to look forward to for the rest of the season. Yes, they can still make a bowl game, but squeaking into the postseason at 6-6 is not what anyone associated with this program wanted to see — especially the donors who have forked over a lot of cash.

Yet, the Buffs are still going to be on national television for their next two games, albeit on smaller networks. Deion Sanders has shown in his time as the Buffaleos’ head coach that he’s able to bring viewership to his team, and the TV bosses have responded by constantly putting him on national television. The Buffs haven’t been on ESPN+ throughout the almost two seasons that the program has been in the Big 12, and they were only on the Pac-12 Network three times in 2023.

It was announced on Sunday that CU’s next contest against Arizona would kick off at 5:00 p.m. MDT on Fox Sports 1, and a second announcement came out on Monday that the following week’s game, a road contest against West Virginia, would kick at 10:00 a.m. MDT on TNT.

It was noted that if the World Series — which is being televised on Fox — doesn’t go to a Game 7, then CU’s broadcast would be bumped from FS1 and put on the main Fox channel.

For the West Virginia game, that is scheduled to be the first morning kick for the Buffs all season long. After the 2023 season saw three games start at 10:00 a.m. local time, and the 2024 season saw two more, they haven’t had the same fortune this season, highlighted with a handful of games starting in the extra-late 8:15 p.m. window on ESPN. Deion Sanders, who has been vocal about his dislike for night games, will likely be a fan of that news.
