Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets are headed back to Oklahoma City for a Game 7, and the Nuggets guard made a sly comment about the city after Thursday night's win

Oklahoma City is rarely mentioned when talking about places that someone wants to go, and it surely isn’t near the top of Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray’s travel bucket list. After Murray tallied 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while fighting an injury to lead his team to victory, he joked about wanting to go to the Sooner State for Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

“[We had] that mindset of wanting to go back to OKC, which is crazy, and finish the game out there,” Murray said after the win.
Oklahoma City has not been too kind to Murray in this series, as he’s made just 38.5% of his field goals in the three road games so far this series, including making just 10-of-27 shots in Game 5 when no other Nugget was able to muster up any sort of offense late to help out Nikola Jokic.
After Denver stole Game 1 in Oklahoma City thanks to a late comeback and a heroic game-winning 3-pointer by Aaron Gordon, they were blown out in Game 2 in the third-worst playoff loss in franchise history. They held a lead in the fourth quarter of the pivotal Game 5 before going ice cold from the field down the stretch.
In the Blue Arrow’s career, however, the Paycom Center (formerly Chesapeake Energy Arena) has treated him well. He has played 13 games there in the regular season, and has averaged just over 20 points per game on 48/46/100 shooting splits.
His last regular season game in OKC was a 34-point performance in a 140-127 victory for Denver. While Jokic is able to carry a lot of the load for Denver offensively, the team doesn’t win big games without Murray’s contributions, so he will need to channel more of the energy he brought in that last regular season win in a hostile environment.
“I just think it’s going to be a good challenge,” Murray said on playing Game 7 in OKC. “It’ll be fun, the crowd will be rocking, energy will be high.”
Another element of Sunday’s contest is that Oklahoma City arguably has the best playoff environment in the entire NBA. Sorry, Denver fans, but every single soul in that arena is wearing the free shirts that they hand out pregame and is cheering loud. Also, the fact that they have shirts for every single game while the Nuggets don’t even have shirts for Game 1 like they did in recent years gives the Thunder an advantage.

Murray said it first. Game 7 is going to be electric as two of the top teams in the entire NBA duke it out one last time for a spot in the Conference Finals. Tip from OKC is slated for 1:30 p.m. Denver time on Sunday afternoon.
