Josh Kroenke says ‘everything on table’ for Nuggets, ‘outside of trading Nikola’

Denver Nuggets president and owner Josh Kroenke met with the media on Friday.

He was joined by executives Ben Tenzer and Jonathan Wallace, plus head coach David Adelman.

But people want to hear mostly from Kroenke after this season came up far short of expectations.

The Nuggets lost in the first-round of the playoffs to the Minnesota Timberwolves in six games, getting embarrassed in a variety of aspects along the way.

And with ESPN’s Shams Charania reporting last weekend that Denver could be open to trading anyone but superstar Nikola Jokic, Josh Kroenke confirmed that on Friday.

“I think that everything’s going to be on the table, outside of trading Nikola. I should be clear because my words got twisted in an interesting way last summer,” Kroenke said.

Kroenke infamously said in June of 2025 that the doomsday scenario for the Nuggets  he “never want(s) to have to contemplate was trading No. 15.”

It was part of a larger answer about the second apron and if Denver had a bad injury then they would have to explore moving Jokic. It was never going to happen, but Kroenke wanted to make it abundantly clear this time around that’s not an option.

Still, guys like Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, Cameron Johnson and Christian Braun could all be shopped according to Charania. Josh Kroenke didn’t do anything to pour cold water on that.

“I think that everything’s on the table right now, including running it back. From my perspective when I think about where we were 12 months ago I think we’ve made really strong strides in terms of certain areas. I think there’s other areas where we’ve been complacent… complacency would be a key word I think I saw in some areas, some people this year,” Kroenke said.

Who he’s referring to is anyone’s guess, but we’ll find out over the next few months.

Jokic is largely expected to sign a super-max extension that will keep him in Denver through the prime of his career. And Josh Kroenke was pointed that the three-time MVP will be on the roster next season and beyond.

At this point Nuggets fans will wait to see who joins him in the court for game one of the regular season come October.
