Rockies legends Todd Helton, Larry Walker to get statues at Coors Field

The Colorado Rockies have two former players in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

That would be the legendary Todd Helton and Larry Walker.

Helton was part of the 2024 class, while Walker got the call in 2020.

And to commemorate their achievements, the team will put up statues at Coors Field that will be unveiled during the 2026 MLB season. Executive vice president Walker Monfort announced the news at Rockies Fest on Saturday.

When people think of baseball in Colorado, there are some fond memories mixed in with a lot of bad ones. Historically, the Rockies have not been good — and have lost at least 100 games of the last three seasons.

But there are bright spots, with Helton and Walker at or near the top of everyone’s lists.

Helton played his entire career in Denver spanning over 17 MLB seasons. He slugged 396 home runs, had more than 1,400 RBI and was a career .316 hitter at the plate. Helton also earned three gold gloves and made five All-Star games.

Walker was with the Rockies from 1995 until he was traded during the 2004 season. In 1,170 games with Colorado, Walker launched 258 home runs and had 848 RBI. He batted for a .334 average and won five gold gloves. He was also the 1997 NL MVP, the only member of the Rockies to ever earn the prestigious award.

The statues will be unveiled (along with more details) on Aug. 23 for Walker and Sept. 19 for Helton. You can bet fans will flock to Coors Field to honor two franchise icons and also check out the statues for themselves.

This is a cool move by the Rockies, honoring the past while hopefully finally looking forward to the future.
