Rockies have a winning record in their last 15 games after fourth straight win

Rockies Report, Game 74:

ROCKIES BOTTOM LINE: Solo home runs from Michael Toglia and Jordan Beck provided the power as the Rockies sealed their second series win of the season, defeating the Washington Nationals 3-1 in a rain-delayed game at Nationals Park on Wednesday night.

The victory gave Colorado its first four-game winning streak of the season and pushed its June mark to 8-8. For perspective, its eight wins this month match its sum total from April and May combined.

Colorado improved to 17-57.

Toglia followed his two-home run night in Tuesday’s win with a sixth-inning shot over the left-field fence, breaking a scoreless tie and putting the Rox in front to stay.

He’s notched a .385/.385/1.077 line since returning to the big club from a two-week stint with AAA Albuquerque, bolstered by his three home runs.

ROCKIES STARTER’S REPORT

Germán Márquez came one-third of an inning short of posting what would technically go into the books as a quality start, but his third win of the season saw another solid performance nonetheless, as he limited Washington to six hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings.

Márquez kept Washington off the scoreboard despite allowing leadoff batters to reach in the first, second and third innings.

The third inning was his biggest trouble spot, as he yielded three singles and a walk. But he was bailed out by his defense, first by Braxton Fulford throwing out Jacob Young as he attempted to steal second base, and then at the end of the inning when Orlando Arcia made a lunging grab of Brady House’s line drive to prevent at least two runs from scoring.

IT WAS DECIDED FOR THE ROCKIES WHEN: Seth Halvorsen caught Alex Call looking for the final out, sealing his fifth save of the season.
