Hunter Goodman leaves Rockies’ loss to Padres early, but X-rays negative

Rockies All-Star catcher Hunter Goodman was hit in the finger by a Randy Vásquez pitch in the top of the sixth inning Thursday night in San Diego, but subsequent X-rays were negative, manager Warren Schaeffer said after Colorado fell 7-3 to the Padres in 12 innings.

“I think he’ll be OK,” Schaeffer said. “It’ll be day-to-day here. We’ll see how he shows up tomorrow.”

Goodman remained in the game briefly after being plunked and went down to first base, but left after bleeding developed on his index finger.

Backup catcher Brett Sullivan replaced him. Sullivan delivered an RBI double in the 11th inning to briefly put the Rox in front.

Goodman has a .239/.327/.718 line so far this season, with 2 home runs and 4 RBI.
