Rockies already call up arm acquired in pre-deadline deal

A former top 100 prospect who was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Seth Halvorsen trade, Nick Frasso joins the Colorado Rockies after five strong outings for the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.

Frasso will be making his major league debut whenever he appears in a game.

The 27-year-old came to Colorado two weeks ago as part of the Halvorsen deal and gives the Rockies a much-needed bullpen arm after trading both Antonio Senzatela and Victor Vodnik on deadline day.

Frasso’s path to the majors has been anything but linear. Originally drafted by the Blue Jays, he was dealt to the Dodgers at the 2022 deadline and climbed as high to No. 67 on Baseball Prospectus’ list before a shoulder surgery wiped out his entire 2024 season. More injuries followed in 2025, limiting him to just 107.1 innings over the past two seasons combined.

Now a full-time reliever, Frasso is sitting 96.3 mph with his fastball — up nearly two ticks from last year — and striking out 35.3% of batters faced across 30 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level between the Dodgers’ and Rockies’ affiliates. The command remains a work in progress, with a 13.2% walk rate and a 4.15 ERA, though those numbers are inflated by the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.

With Senzatela in Milwaukee and Vodnik in Miami, the Rockies have real innings to go around. Frasso now gets his shot.

The Rockies also called up outfielder Jordan Beck, who takes the roster spot of Brenton Doyle, who was also dealt on Monday.
