Utah entered their game in Denver on Sunday afternoon as the hottest team in the NBA. They’d rattled off 11-straight wins, pushing their record to an NBA-best 15-4.
Behind Nikola Jokic, however, the Nuggets were able to cool off the Jazz. The center matched his career high with 47 points, as Denver won 128-117.
It wasn’t just on the offensive end that Jokic shined, however. He also grabbed 12 rebounds.
With 47 and 12, Jokic posted his 20th double-double of the season, reaching that mark in every game. It’s the second-longest such streak in NBA history.
Only Bill Walton had a longer stretch to open a season. The Trail Blazers big man reached at least 10 points and 10 rebounds in the first 34 games of the 1976-77 campaign.
It was a command performance by Jokic, one that added to his MVP-caliber season. On the season, the Nuggets center is averaging 26.8 points, 11.8 rebounds and 8.6 assists.
