Carson Wentz rumors point to Indy, not Denver, as frontrunners

While the Carson Wentz days in Philadelphia definitely appear numbered, rumors of his potential next home do not point to Denver.

Speaking on potential Wentz landing spots with Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio on Tuesday, NBC Sports NFL analyst Chris Simms said the Eagles quarterback’s preference is the Indianapolis Colts, at least in relation to the Chicago Bears.

“If I’m Wentz, I strongly prefer the Colts over the Chicago Bears,” Florio said.

“And I was told he does. I was told by some people I trust that he prefers the Colts’ situation, certainly,” Simms replied.

Reports NFL teams had reached out to the Eagles about Wentz first dropped last week, and ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that a trade was imminent.

Response to the latter report by Broncos Country indicated a majority of those asked did not want Denver to pursue Wentz this offseason.

Similarly, last week 1043TheFan.com’s Cecil Lammey said he doesn’t believe the Broncos have time to take on a “reclamation project” like Wentz.

“You don’t have the time to take on someone else’s project, to fix him, when you have your own young quarterback that needs plenty of work as well,” Lammey said.
