Another veteran QB could be available for the Broncos

Throw another horse into the race for Denver Broncos to secure its quarterback of the future, as the Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly fielded calls from several NFL for former starter Carson Wentz.

Per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, sources say teams have begun calling the Eagles about a trade for Wentz, though the plan right now is for the team to keep the former first-round pick. No specific team was mentioned in the report.

Wentz’s trade value may have bumped up a few notches after the Detroit Lions shipped Matthew Stafford off to the Los Angeles Rams over the weekend for two first round picks, a third-rounder and Jared Goff — essentially taking two top-tier QBs off the market.

The news also comes after reports surfaced earlier this week saying Las Vegas Raiders were expected to take calls on quarterback Derek Carr, which could possible free up space to pursue Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Watson, however, appears to be keen on the idea of potentially joining the Broncos, if his former Houston Texans teammate and current Denver safety Kareem Jackson is to be believed.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Jackson said, “I had a couple of conversations with him. Denver is a place that’s he’s interested in landing.”
