Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix is a fourth quarter machine.
It happened again on Sunday.
Trailing 14-13 heading into the final frame against the Carolina Panthers, Nix and the Broncos pulled off another comeback. They prevailed 26-21 after Jonah Coleman and Pat Bryant scored touchdowns, the latter an absolute dart from Nix.
Nik Bonitto’s strip-sack of Panthers QB Bryce Young sealed the win.
The Broncos have won an NFL record 16 straight one-score games. Nix was asked if every outing being close is easy to deal with or if comes with anxiety.
“I’ll be honest, it seems like it’s always the same feeling. There’s always a look in the huddle like ‘hey guys, we don’t have a choice right here and we gotta go make something out of it’. Today, those second half touchdowns were really, really important. ” Bo Nix said.
Denver’s QB finished 25-37 for 237 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He, like most of Broncos Country, enjoyed the fourth quarter offense the most.
“I thought that was the best part of the game because it showed that we stacked two drives together, two critical moments and gave our defense some rest on the sideline with those longer drives, but also a good cushion,” Nix said.
A Carolina TD and Broncos three-and-out made things interesting before Bonitto called game. Denver sits at 7-2 entering its bye week and still atop the AFC West.
“We’re in a really good spot, obviously. You want to be first in your division, you want to be winning football games and we’ve played a really tough part of our schedule. At 7-2, we feel really confident, but at the same time there’s a lot of things we can get better at,” Bo Nix said.
Improving while winning is always a good feeling. No one is saying this Broncos team is perfect, but they have a calm about them in the most pressure-packed moments that is admirable.
And when Denver doesn’t have a choice but to score, it seems like Bo Nix delivers more often than not.
