ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Three key Broncos first-teamers were not on the field when they began practice Wednesday — as expected.
Wide receiver Pat Bryant and cornerbacks Riley Moss and Pat Surtain II were not present as the Broncos kicked off their on-field preparations for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers in the wake of the injuries suffered in last Sunday’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Bryant and Surtain both left the game with ankle injuries, while Moss was sidelined with a rib problem.
The news in recent days has been promising for all three players in terms of their long-term prognoses. Surtain is expected to miss multiple games, but it’s possible that he won’t land on injured reserve.
The same is true for Bryant, who suffered a sprained ankle when he was tackled after a 30-yard catch-and-run late in the third quarter.
Moss’ timetable remains up in the air, but his absence is not expected to be lengthy.
BRONCOS GET DONDREA TILLMAN BACK
Edge rusher Dondrea Tillman was also back at practice after missing last week’s game due to a hamstring issue. Tillman did not participate in any of the three on-field sessions last week.
With Tillman out last Sunday, the Broncos had just three full-time edge rushers active for the game. They gave some spot stand-up work at the edge to defensive end Sai’vion Jones, who recorded one of the Broncos’ eight pressures on 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy during the game.
