Report: Broncos WR Pat Bryant sprained his ankle, timeline revealed for return

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting Pat Bryant will miss "a few weeks" after being carted off in a frustrating 24-14 loss to the 49ers on Sunday

Watch: Why it's not PANIC time for the Broncos ... but there is cause for concern | 8 mins

Denver Broncos wide receiver Pat Bryant was carted off in the second half against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon.

It was a scary moment for fans and Bryant in a game full of them, a frustrating 24-14 loss that dropped the Broncos to 2-2 on the season.

But on Monday morning the sun came up and there’s some good news around Bryant.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting it’s an ankle sprain and Bryant will miss a few weeks. That’s better than a fracture and him being done for the season.

Pat Bryant had a huge training camp, one in which he showed he can likely be a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in the NFL one day.

Through four games on the year, Bryant has nine catches for 133 yards and a touchdown. The yards are second on the team and receptions are tied for third.

He actually got hurt on Denver’s most explosive offensive play of the day against the Niners, a 30-yard catch late in the third quarter. But the cart was called out and replays showed Bryant’s ankle bent in a direction it’s not supposed to.

Overall, this is a positive development. We’ll see if Bryant lands on short-term IR, but regardless he’ll play again for Denver this season. Much like the news on star CB Pat Surtain II, Broncos Country can breathe a sigh of relief it’s not more serious.

In the meantime, Bo Nix and the entire offense have to figure it out fast. And they’ll have to do it without Pat Bryant for at least the next couple of games.
