Alex Singleton’s agent rips ‘ignorance’ and ‘incompetence’ of some Broncos media

Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton had a rough night against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday.

But he wasn’t the only one.

The whole team looked terrible in a 31-10 beatdown by Denver’s AFC West rival.

At this point, fans are ready to move on and start focusing on this coming Sunday against the Jaguars. It’s an opportunity for the Broncos to get to 1-1 and put a dud of an opener behind them.

However, Singleton’s agent Paul Sheehy is coming to the defense of his client after social media ripped Singleton throughout the Chiefs game and in the days after.

The level of sheer ignorance of Broncos bloggers and self proclaimed "journalists" continues to amaze and has never been higher. I get it, rage baiting a passionate fan base gets clicks, but it doesn't take away from the ignorance or incompetence on display.

Sheehy is calling some of the Broncos media ignorant and incompetent for their takes on Alex Singleton, but the criticism might be warranted.

According to “Next Gen Stats,” Denver missed 28 tackles in Kansas City, leading the Chiefs to an extra 247 yards. That was the most yards surrendered after missed tackles by any NFL defense since at least 2018. It was a historically bad outing.

And Alex Singleton was the No. 1 culprit, missing five tackles which was the most on the team. That’s also according to Next Gen Stats.

He even committed a personal foul penalty in frustration, not being able to control his emotions after one of those missed tackles.

On one hand, Sheehy is an agent attempting to have his client’s back. That’s always a good thing.

On the other, this is only going to put Singleton’s play under even more of a microscope. He signed a two-year, $15.5 million contract with the Broncos in the spring.

It made a lot of fans scratch their heads at the time, wondering why Denver GM George Paton gave a 32-year-old linebacker that kind of new deal.

Alex Singleton bravely and openly fought testicular cancer last season and beat it. That (of course) should be applauded as he’s an inspiration to a lot of people.

But at the end of the day, the criticisms are related to football and tackling. He can make a lot of them, but also misses big ones at key times.

Sheehy’s tweet is predictably not going well — simply making many in Broncos Country more upset. The replies to the post tell the story.

Hopefully, Denver rebounds against Jacksonville on Sunday and plays better, cooling the temperature off.

But if Alex Singleton and the defense have another poor outing then things might only get worse.
