ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos returned to the practice field Thursday, but did so without Marvin Mims Jr.

The fourth-year wide receiver and kickoff/punt returner was the only Broncos player not on the field when the team began its on-field work in advance of Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Mims was one of two players listed on the estimated practice report for Wednesday as not practicing. The other, running back RJ Harvey, was on the field and present when Thursday’s practice began. Mims was listed as having a foot injury.

NFL teams must issue estimated reports when they don’t practice in the days prior to a game day — with the exception of a Saturday prior to a Sunday game or a Sunday preceding a Monday contest.

The Broncos chose to use Wednesday as the league-mandated players off day for the week, instead having them in the building Tuesday following the 31-10 Monday Night Football loss at Kansas City.

Mims briefly left Monday night’s game with what was announced in the press box as a hip injury, but he returned in that game. His first issue with his foot came Aug. 28 in the preseason finale against the Minnesota Vikings, when he suffered a bruise that knocked him out of that contest.

“I feel fine. I’ll be good, should be all right,” Mims said in the locker room after Monday’s game. “Just some old stuff coming back up, but I should be fine for the next week.”

But three days later, Mims has yet to see the practice field.
