Marvin Mims Jr. is the only Broncos player to land on the first injury report of the regular season, but he had full practice participation.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos are in as good a shape as you could reasonably ask for as their Week 1 game against the Kansas City Chiefs looms.

They listed only a single player on their first official injury report of the season — Marvin Mims Jr. — and he was designated as a full participant in Thursday afternoon’s practice.

That’s the best possible news after he suffered a foot bruise during the Broncos’ preseason finale Aug. 28. At the time, Mims flung his helmet to the ground in frustration as he returned to the sideline and subsequently went into the pop-up blue medical tent on the south end of the Broncos’ bench area.

Mims said it was “hard to tell” the severity of the injury in the moment, leading to his understandable visceral reaction.

“I knew it was something. I was hoping it wasn’t too much,” Mims said. “But at the end of the day it was it the best news we could possibly get out of the situation. So, very fortunate for that.”

Meanwhile, in Kansas City, the Chiefs listed 10 players on their injury report. Eight of them were designated with full practice participation.

The only exceptions were left tackle Josh Simmons and defensive back Chamorri Conner, who did not practice.
