DENVER — The Rockies’ parade of pitching injuries shows no sign of stopping.
Not even 15 minutes before Friday night’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado placed starter Tanner Gordon on the 15-day injured list due to right hip impingement. It’s the latest blow to a staff that already had two starters — Chase Dollander and José Quintana — on the injured list, with Quintana moving to the 60-day list on May 28 due to an elbow issue that will not require surgery, although he will receive a PRP injection, as Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer said Friday.
The Rockies are now without three pitchers who account for 20 starts or appearances with openers in their 63 games so far this season.
The move was made retroactive to June 2. Gordon’s most recent start came May 31 against the San Francisco Giants, when he yielded four earned runs on six hits and a walk over three innings and 75 pitches.
Gordon had moved into the rotation in recent weeks since being recalled from AAA Albuquerque on May 12, working once as a starter and twice with an opener. He started 23 games over the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
While Gordon’s ERA remains north of 6.00 this season, his FIP is a career-best 4.09.
ROCKIES BRING AGNOS BACK UP TO MAJOR-LEAGUE ROSTER
In the corresponding move to placing Gordon on the IL, Colorado recalled reliever Zach Agnos from Albuquerque. Agnos has been optioned to AAA twice so far this season, but all of his appearances in 2026 have been at the major-league level.
Agnos has 16 appearances this year, including one start at Arizona on May 21. That was his most impressive game of the season, as he tossed five shutout innings, allowing only a hit and a walk in the process.
Agnos has a 9.00 ERA in 15 relief appearances this season.
