Josh Allen still thinking about Broncos loss, makes interesting statement

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen is still thinking about the loss to the Denver Broncos nearly two weeks ago that ended his season.

And who can blame him?

Allen had some excellent moments in the 33-30 OT defeat to the Broncos, but also turned the football over four times. He had two interceptions and two fumbles, one of which gifted Denver three points before the half.

He also threw a controversial pick in overtime, setting up the Broncos and QB Bo Nix to move the football down the field and win the game with a Wil Lutz field goal.

Of course, that’s when Nix also broke his ankle, helping derail Denver’s dreams and eventually playing a big part in a 10-7 loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Title Game. Nix watched while backup QB Jarrett Stidham struggled.

Regardless, Josh Allen had a press conference on Thursday as the Bills introduced Joe Brady as their new head coach. Buffalo fired Sean McDermott after the defeat in Denver and Allen wondered out loud if that never happens if the Bills win at Empower Field at Mile High.

Essentially, Josh Allen is pointing the finger at himself. He’s saying if he protects the football better, McDermott likely still works for the Bills. He even hinted he thinks Buffalo could be getting ready for the Super Bowl.

That’s not how sports work, but it shows you have lives and careers can change on one or two big plays in a postseason game.

The Broncos made more that day, even if Josh Allen did throw for 283 yards and three touchdowns. His turnovers killed them — especially at inopportune times.

Of course, neither team will hoist the Lombardi Trophy this year, but Denver did go one step further than Buffalo. And it wouldn’t shock anyone if the two meet in the playoffs again next January, which would mark a third season in a row.
