Ryan Clark has odd take about Bo Nix hurting Micah Parsons, but there’s context

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix played out of his mind against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Nix threw for more than 300 yards, had four touchdowns and no sacks or interceptions in the 34-26 win.

While it was arguably Nix’s best NFL game thus far, something unfortunate happened on the other side of the ball.

Packers star pass-rusher Micah Parsons tore his ACL and is done for the season. It’s a huge blow to Green Bay’s Super Bowl hopes, as Parsons had been playing at an elite level ever since the blockbuster trade that sent him from the Cowboys to the Packers.

Injuries happen, especially non-contact ones, and they can be fluky. That doesn’t make them less devastating, but they’re no one’s fault.

However, ESPN’s Ryan Clark offered up an odd take about the situation on the Monday Night Football pregame show.

"Micah Parsons is hurt because of Bo Nix. … The violence in which Micah Parsons had to chase Bo Nix the entire second half was extremely evident."

Look, there’s some context here.

But uttering the sentence “Micah Parsons is hurt because of Bo Nix,” on national television isn’t the best decision. This was not Nix’s fault and any rational person knows that.

Ultimately, it sounds like Clark was trying to pay Nix a compliment, but did it in a very clunky way.

“You could see that Micah Parsons was the one person in pursuit of Bo Nix the entire day,” Clark said. “Bo Nix was amazing last night and it’s sad you lose a great player like Micah Parsons. But it was because of the effort he needed to give in order to get to Denver’s quarterback.”

Again, Clark was attempting to praise how well Nix played and moved around, he just did it in horrible fashion.

This segment is of course going viral. And while Clark misspoke, clarifying his intentions is also important.
