Bo Nix calls the Broncos ‘overdogs’ after beating the Packers as underdogs

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix had a great zinger earlier this week about being underdogs to the Green Bay Packers.

He said his mom thought they’d win and that’s all that matters.

Turns out, Mrs. Nix was right.

The Broncos rallied to beat the Packers 34-26 at Empower Field at Mile High and Bo Nix was excellent. He threw four touchdown passes to four different receivers and finished with 302 yards passing.

Denver has now won 11 games in a row and sits at 12-2 atop the AFC. The Broncos also clinched a playoff berth for the second season in a row.

After the game, Tracy Wolfson from CBS caught up with Bo Nix and he gave a great interview.

Wolfson asking Nix about being underdogs was a perfect first question and he delivered again.

“That we’re the overdogs,” Nix said with a laugh after the victory.

It does feel like the Broncos have been doubted all year, but a win over a great Packers team might finally silence some doubters. Nix was quick to spread the credit around.

“I think every unit played great. We had key plays in all units. Defense just kept playing at the end and they got stop after stop after stop. They got two really big turnovers,” Nix said.

The Denver defense picked off Green Bay QB Jordan Love twice and played excellent after being down 23-14 in the third quarter. That’s when Bo Nix really started cooking.

“Offensively we got touchdowns today instead of field goals. Now, we want to close out the game better. We got two opportunities to push it and get more points. I guess we just like one-score games,” Nix said.

It is yet another one-score game for the Broncos, but the offense hanging 34 on the scoreboard was outstanding. That unit carried them to an official spot in the playoffs.

“It’s great, that was our first goal going into tonight. Baby steps, one step at a time. One step leads to another and without this one, you can’t get to where you want to go. So every step is as important as the next,” Nix said.

That’s similar to what head coach Sean Payton said postgame, noting Denver is still chasing three goals.

But right now, Payton and Bo Nix looks like one of the best coach / QB duos in the NFL. If they keep playing like this, the sky really is the limit.
