Report: Broncos LB Alex Singleton broke his thumb again in Week 1

Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton is a warrior.

The hits keep on coming, but he’s still battling through.

Singleton tore his ACL in Week 3 of the 2024 season, remarkably finishing the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He underwent surgery and missed the rest of the year.

He was thrilled to be back in training camp this summer, but suffered a bit of a setback. Alex Singleton broke his thumb and had to miss a few practices after surgery, but quickly returned to the field.

It’s the kind of toughness Broncos fans have come to expect from the tackling machine, who had a ridiculous 177 of them during the 2023 season.

Singleton played in Week 1 against the Titans, registering six tackles and defending a pass. But on Thursday he revealed yet another piece of bad luck. Singleton somehow broke his thumb again, but gutted through it and won’t miss time.

That’s just wild.

Alex Singleton has no thoughts of not playing against the Indianapolis Colts this coming Sunday, even if it means wearing a cast.

And with the Broncos likely without Dre Greenlaw, who’s still battling a quad injury and hasn’t practiced yet this season, they’ll need Singleton on the field. He figures to be paired with Justin Strnad again at inside linebacker.

Through all this, Alex Singleton hasn’t popped up on Denver’s injury report, which is incredible. It shows his grit, and the Broncos are lucky to have him as one of the leaders of the defense.
