The Colorado Rockies will have the club’s top hitting prospect representing the club down in Atlanta in a couple of weeks, as it was announced on Monday that Charlie Condon would be playing in the All-Star Futures Game. Condon is rated by the MLB Pipeline as the No. 22 prospect in the MLB while also being the top dog in Colorado’s system.

The appearance will be somewhat of a homecoming for the 22-year-old, as he was born in Atlanta and raised in the state of Georgia. Now, he gets to showcase his skills as one of the best prospects in the league in front of his hometown.

This is the second big announcement for Condon in the past 24 hours, as the Rockies organization announced on Sunday that he was being moved up, finally, to AA Hartford after tearing up the competition in high-A with the Spokane Indians. The third baseman missed the start of the season due to a wrist injury that he suffered in spring training, but has found his rhythm since making his debut in early May. In 167 plate appearances in high-A, Condon slashed .312/.431/.420, with nine extra-base hits and 17 RBIs.

Last season, the Rockies lone representative in the Futures game was Chase Dollander, who has cemented himself has a key part of the club’s pitching rotation going forward following a strong performance against the Los Angeles Dodgers last week. Yanquiel Fernandez was the club’s representative in 2023 and Zac Veen was the guy in 2022. While Ezequiel Tovar was named to the roster in 2022, he missed the game due to injury. The last time that the Rockies had more than one player actually play in the game was 2021, when Michael Toglia, Willie Maclver and Ryan Vilade all made an appearance.

The Futures contest will take place on Saturday, July 12, at 2:00 p.m. MDT. For Rockies fans looking to get their eyes on the club’s top hitting prospect, they can watch on TV via MLB Network, or can stream the game on MLB.com, MLB.TV and the MLB app.
