The Nuggets are very good.
But are they the best team in the NBA? Well, according to the league’s official Power Rankings released on Monday, that is indeed the case. Sitting at 26-13, the Brooklyn Nets (27-13) and Boston Celtics (28-12) have slightly better records, but Denver is apparently the team to beat.
With the season at the halfway mark, the Nuggets stay at No. 1 while the Cavaliers find their way back into the top 5 of this week's NBA App Power Rankings!

These rankings makes sense. After all, the Nuggets beat the Celtics just eight days ago, a dominant 123-111 triumph at Ball Arena. And Denver has been red hot, going 12-3 over the last month with wins over several contenders. The Nuggets have taken down Memphis, Phoenix, Miami, Boston, the Clippers and Cleveland during the stretch.
The Nuggets don’t play Brooklyn until twice in the middle of March, one game will be in New York and the other in Denver over the span of a week. The Nets are on fire, 9-1 over their last 10 games, and have salvaged a season that was initially filled with drama and turmoil.
Denver’s never won an NBA title. In fact, they’ve never played for one. But with the Nuggets sitting at No. 1 in the Western Conference, this year feels like their best shot ever. The roster is loaded with back-to-back Nikola Jokic leading the way, potential All-Star Aaron Gordon and plenty more.
Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. are back, and Bruce Brown, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Christian Braun were all key offseason additions. Bones Hyland has had his moments and the rest of the bench provides some sneaky good contributions on seemingly a nightly basis.
Do Power Rankings mean we’ll get a parade? No. But it shows the Nuggets are right there with the best teams in the league.
