Buffs get No. 1 wide-out transfer in the country and add another four-star

Dec 25, 2022, 4:20 PM

National Signing Day was just the start for Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes, who have kept working since.

CU Buffs fans who peeped at their presents early on Christmas were rewarded with a major commitment from Omarion Miller. And those who stayed patient were also given a huge prize, with the No. 1 wide receiver in the transfer portal, Jimmy Horn Jr., announcing his transfer to Colorado on Christmas Day.

According to 24/7 Sports, the Buffaloes have the third-best transfer class in the country, behind Michigan and Florida State. Meanwhile, Colorado’s 2023 recruiting class ranks No. 24 in the country, according to 24/7 Sports, which is the program’s best class since 2008.

Horn was a first-team All-AAC receiver last season with 37 catches for 551 yards and five touchdowns. He was also a dynamic returner, averaging 29.9 yards per kick return, including a long return he housed against BYU.

Horn, 5-9, 170-pounds, led Sanford’s Seminole High to the Florida 8A state title in 2020 and was a four-star recruit. He originally had offers from 29 different schools. A late riser, Horn picked USF over Georgia and Jackson State on Signing Day.

24/7Sports had Horn as the No.1 wideout and No. 4 overall transfer in the portal this year.

Horn was the big Christmas Day unwrapping for the Buffaloes but the just-as-good Christmas Eve gift, Omarion Miller, a four-star receiver from Louisiana and of the better pass catchers in high school nationwide, will be a Buffalo.

Miller, 6-2, 190-pounds, is a former Nebraska commit who also had offers from giants like Arkansas, LSU, Miami and Mississippi State.

“I think Coach Prime is going to really make history there,” Miller told 247Sports. “I think he’s going to bring Colorado back where it should be.”

Miller averaged over 22 yards a catch as a three-year starter in high school, taking 154 receptions for 3,492 yards and 43 touchdowns. This fall nabbed 49 balls for 1,183 yards and 15 scores with another three end zone trips coming on the ground.

Miller is a tall wide-out who should bulk up nicely in school. He’s a great athlete and can rev up to a high speed.

Horn and Miller join the rest of the new Buffaloes led by Travis Hunter. They’ll also have Auburn flip Adam Hopkins out wide, and other newcomers, three-star players, Jacob Page, Isaiah Hardge, Asaad Waseem and Jordan Onovughe. Along with the fresh members of the black and gold, they’ll return standout freshman Jordan Tyson, who caught 22 balls for 470 yards and scored five touchdowns before his season ended early due to injury.
