Russell Wilson feels like the Broncos should be 10-0 this season

Nov 23, 2022, 3:07 PM

The Broncos are 3-7.

But in all seven losses, they’ve had a real chance to win. There isn’t a single game they’ve been blown out of the stadium. A play here or a play there, and they could’ve legitimately taken every single game. Complete one more pass, make one more kick or don’t fumble the football and this season could look a whole lot different.

It stinks, and it sounds like an excuse, but it’s the truth.

On Wednesday, QB Russell Wilson was asked about his mindset and keeping it positive despite the brutal year, and he also mentioned the feeling inside the building is they could be undefeated.

“I think we have relentless buy in. Everybody’s all-in. There’s not anybody that’s not. There’s not anybody that’s not believing in what we’re doing and how we can get there. I think the part that’s been the toughest, the part we keep hanging our hats on is understanding that we’ve been in every single one of these games. We feel like we should’ve won every single one them,” Wilson said.

Again, feeling that way and actually doing it are two totally different things. Even if just two of those games had gone a different way, Denver would be 5-5 and still in the playoff chase. That’s not the reality of the situation, though, and even with seven games left, this season feels lost. But Wilson says don’t give up hope quite yet.

“As disappointing as that is, we are where we are. We’ve got to respond, we’ve got to react, we’ve got to better and improve. We had an unbelievable practice today. The young guys are looking so great. Just to be able to step in there. We’re playing with so many new faces and everything. But the good part is guys are getting that experience,” Wilson said.

Wilson’s right on that. The Broncos have suffered an insane number of injuries, forcing guys we never thought we’d see this year into the lineup.

And while 2022 is almost certainly a lost cause, they are indeed getting experience. Hopefully that helps Wilson and the Broncos win these type of games next year.

The fanbase and the players are going to need that come 2023 and beyond. It’s hard to fathom it getting much worse.
