Jamal Murray leaves Nuggets game with an injury, team says it’s a thigh

Oct 7, 2022, 7:41 PM | Updated: 8:37 pm

File this under the category of things that will make you shake your head.

Not in a mad way, but in a sad way.

Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray left tonight’s preseason game in Chicago against the Bulls with a leg injury. Murray headed to the locker room, and the team later ruled him out. It’s being called a thigh injury, which is relatively good news, considering it’s hopefully not related to his surgically repaired ACL.

This was just Murray’s second game back since missing 18 months with the ACL injury, suffered on April 12, 2021 when he tore it in his left knee against the Warriors. Murray missed the entire 2022 season.

The Nuggets are already without back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic as he battles a wrist injury. They’re likely being cautious with Jokic, but will now have to be with Murray as well.

The regular season gets going on October 19 in Utah against the Jazz. Let’s hope it’s a minor tweak for Murray, and he’s ready for the opener. But with his injury history, all of Nuggets Nation is certainly holding its breath.

(Update 8:37 p.m.) –

In his postgame press conference, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone passed along some good news overall.

That’s a pretty big sigh of relief, but Murray’s status will need to be monitored moving forward. Let’s just hope he can stay healthy from here on out.
