Hackett tried to simulate Seattle noise, but knows it won’t be like the game

Lumen Field is maybe the loudest stadium in the NFL.

The home of the Seattle Seahawks is known for being a very tough place to play. Some say it and Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs, get the rowdiest.

Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett knows this, and is doing his best to simulate what Monday Night Football will be like for Denver. It’s going to be loud, it’s going to be hostile and there will be a lot of venom spewed at former Seahawks QB Russell Wilson.

On Saturday, after the Broncos final practice before heading to the Pacific Northwest, Hackett was asked about his team’s preparation this week. Including pumping in artificial noise. He’s not sure how much it will help.

“I mean, it’s loud, it’s annoying. You get to hear a bunch of boos, so you get used to that,” Hackett said of the noise. “But besides that, I don’t think anything is like a real game, especially at a place like that. I don’t think you can ever (simulate the noise). Unless we put earphones on everybody and turned it up even louder, I don’t think you’re ever going to get that. But we tried our best to make it as loud and as uncomfortable as we could for those guys.”

Former Broncos head coach John Fox infamously didn’t think Super Bowl XLVIII would be loud, and that backfired. Seahawks fans flocked to New York and helped the first snap of the game go over Peyton Manning’s head. It was all downhill from there, as Denver was blasted 43-8. If Seattle can make New York loud, they sure as heck will make sure their home stadium is rocking. Especially for Wilson’s return.

Unlike Fox, Hackett tried. We’ll see if it helps on Monday night. It’d be nice if the Broncos can jump on the Seahawks early and take the crowd out of the game.
