Water-bottle-gate: Binnington chucks some H2O at Kadri postgame

You thought this series was already spicy?

It’s about to get spicier.

The Colorado Avalanche beat the St. Louis Blues 5-2 on Saturday night in Game 3 of their Round 2 series to take a commanding 2-1 lead, but that was just the beginning of the drama.

Controversial Avalanche center Nazem Kadri collided with Blues goalie Jordan Binnington in the first period, knocking the St. Louis starter out of the game, and Binnington was ticked off.

After the contest, Binnington apparently chucked a water bottle at Kadri in disgust during his postgame interview with TNT. Water-bottle-gate is officially on.

Wow! How childish can Binnington be?! It’s clear Kadri did nothing wrong, and if this was any other player, the incident would have been discussed as simply unfortunate. After the game, St. Louis head coach Craig Berube was not pleased, but Avs head coach Jared Bednar had a much more rational take.

Buckle up, Game 4 is on Monday night with the Avs looking to essentially put the Blues to bed for a second straight season. We’ll see if any more water bottles get caught in the crossfire.
