Game 4 was costly for one member of the Nuggets. Backup center DeMarcus Cousins was assessed a hefty fine by the NBA on Tuesday, resulting from his in-game outburst during Denver’s 126-121 win on Sunday.
Cousins got into a stare-down altercation with Draymond Green in the second quarter of Game 4. The Nuggets center took issue with a hard foul from the hard-nosed Warriors forward and the two players got nose to nose for a few moments.
Cousins kept his hands in the air, trying to show the officials that he wasn’t touching Green. It was interpreted as an excessive display, earning the Nuggets backup a technical foul.

That upset Cousins, to put it mildly. The center was despondent over the call, having to be calmed by teammates and Nuggets coaches. He was taken out of the game, but continued to show his displeasure near Denver’s bench. That’s what earned him the fine from the league.
“Denver Nuggets center DeMarcus Cousins has been fined $15,000 for kicking towels into the spectator stands,” the league announced on Tuesday.
Not only did Cousins get a technical foul that he didn’t deserve, but now the NBA is adding insult to injury. The center is also a little lighter in the wallet.
