Does Broncos GM George Paton have one more monster free agency signing left in him?
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Denver may not be done spending this offseason just yet.
Schultz released a video on Thursday night with some curious information about free agent safety Tyrann Mathieu, or the “Honey Badger” as he’s known to many fans.
In the video Schultz says the following: “The Honey Badger! I also believe there’s a decent shot Tyrann Mathieu goes to Denver, teams up with Justin Simmons to create a lethal 1-2 punch.”
1/1 predicting Bobby Wagner to the #Rams! What’s next in what’s still a super loaded list of free agent stars?!

It’s important to remember Schultz was one of the first NFL insiders on the Russell Wilson saga in December, reporting he would waive his no trade clause for three teams, including the Broncos. That obviously came to fruition last month when Paton pulled off a blockbuster trade for the nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback.
Pairing Mathieu with Simmons in the Denver secondary would be a dream for Broncos fans. Yes, second-year player Caden Sterns has a lot of potential, but Mathieu’s resume speaks for itself. In nine NFL seasons he has 26 interceptions, 76 passes defended, 610 tackles and three career touchdowns. The Honey Badger has been a First-Team All-Pro three times (including 2019 and 2020) and been selected to three Pro Bowls.
Mathieu started his career in Arizona with the Cardinals, played one season with the Texans and then was a dominating force on the Chiefs defense the last three years. Broncos fans obviously know that well, and Mathieu was rewarded with a Super Bowl ring for his efforts in 2020.
Trading for Wilson changed everything, as the Broncos are once again an attractive spot for potential free agents. Landing Honey Badger after acquiring Wilson and signing guys like Randy Gregory, D.J. Jones and K’Waun Williams would continue a massive offseason for Paton.
