Clayton: The Broncos continue to face one challenge after another
As if mounting injuries weren't bad enough, the Broncos were dealt another blow on Friday when Pat Shurmur tested positive for COVID-19

Of late, the Broncos have been facing new major challenges.
The first one was when they had to put three of their starting linebackers on injured reserve. Then, Von Miller got hurt, missed a game with an ankle injury and then was traded to the Los Angeles Rams.
That was followed by cornerback Bryce Callahan going on injured reserve. And Patrick Surtain suffered a knee injury that will keep him out a couple of weeks.
Last week, the offensive line took some big hits. Right guard Graham Glasgow was lost for the season. Right tackle Bobby Massie won’t play this week because of an ankle injury. Left tackle Garett Bolles may miss another game because of an ankle injury. This would be their first game that could have 60 percent of their line not available.
Friday added another big challenge.
Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is expected to miss Sunday’s game because of COVID-19. That creates more problems. Vic Fangio will have to rely on the assistant coaches to call the plays, get them in to Teddy Bridgewater and get the offense moving. The offense has had issues until last week when they destroyed the Dallas Cowboys.
Shurmur has been talking about fixing some of the problems. He hasn’t liked the slow starts for the offense. Last week, the offense finally got off to a fast start and carried it over throughout the game. Now, can they do that with new coaches calling plays?
The Philadelphia Eagles are a beatable team. They lost to the Los Angeles Chargers last week and didn’t get much pressure on quarterback Justin Herbert. Even against the Eagles, this game became more of a challenge.
