Could inking JJ Watt help Broncos land Deshaun Watson?
Signing the prolific pass rusher may help the Denver Broncos make a run at trading for the disgruntled Houston Texans quarterback
For years Texans have migrated to the beautiful Mile High City. But if the Broncos can convince one in particular to relocate to Denver, it could change the trajectory of the franchise.
On Friday, the Texans released prolific pass rusher JJ Watt after both sides agreed to “mutually part ways,” prompting approximately a dozen teams to clamor for the all-pro’s services.
Per ESPN reporter Ed Werder, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans were among those interested in Watt. And it’s unknown at this time whether the Broncos fall among the remaining teams.
But should Denver pull out all the stops and ink Watt to a deal, it could perhaps aid in hooking an even bigger fish: quarterback Deshaun Watson.
The Broncos are reportedly already on the short list of teams that “intrigued” Watson, who can somewhat control his own destiny due to the no-trade clause in his contract.
Former Texans teammate Kareem Jackson has also been lobbying for Watson to join him to Denver, retweeting a pair of posts Friday that featured the quarterback in a Broncos uniform.
Kareem Jackson just retweeted this. He is all in on bringing Deshaun Watson, his former Texans’ teammate, to the Broncos. Kareem is showing Broncos players are tired of losing and want to win. #9sports https://t.co/3S1fzkcBb6

And at least one 104.3 The Fan host, DMac, believes signing Watt could help facilitate a Broncos trade for Watson.
“Seems simple. Keep Kareem Jackson. Sign JJ Watt. Makes Denver a destination for Watson. This is a game changer today,” DMac said.
