The Broncos are not a team who likes to reward their own players. It’s been their pattern.

This is a franchise who waited until the final minute to pay Von Miller in his prime. This team couldn’t wait to pay Ja’Wuan James, but let Chris Harris Jr. walk.

It’s time for this team to reward the players they drafted who exceeded expectations. It’s time for this team to pay Justin Simmons.

The safety position has changed a lot in the past few seasons. We’re seeing more and more safeties around the NFL being paid big time contracts.

Justin Simmons has not only delivered in terms of where he was drafted, but he is clearly in the upper echelon of his position. He was an All-Pro selection in 2019 and is on pace for his best statistical season. It is time for the Broncos to give the man what he deserves.

Justin Simmons is not the best safety in the league. Who cares?

He is absolutely a top-tier safety, and the Broncos need to hold on to the few good players they actually have and reward them. Simmons has proven his worth to this team as both a player on the field and a leader off of the field.

If this team doesn’t re-sign Simmons, then what? They’ll need to draft a safety or overpay a free agent. What are the chances that player is better than Simmons?

This is a long-standing problem with the Broncos. They love to sign free agents instead of paying their own guys.

It’s time for that trend to end. You may think Justin Simmons is not worth top dollar, and this team has other needs, you’re wrong. It’s time to reward your All-Pro safety.
