Siemian on hurt shoulder: ‘I knew something wasn’t right, right away’

UPDATE: Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph said during a press conference Friday that quarterback Trevor Siemian suffered a partial dislocation of his non-throwing shoulder and would be placed on season-ending injured reserve.

An MRI on Friday confirmed Siemian suffered a subluxation on his left shoulder, though Joseph said Siemian would not require surgery but rest and rehabilitation.

Siemian underwent surgery in January on for a separated shoulder in the same arm.

Denver Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian reportedly suffered a sprained AC joint in his non-throwing shoulder in Thursday night’s win over the Indianapolis Colts.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter tweeted out Friday morning that, per senior writer Jeff Legwold, Siemian sprained the AC joint in his left shoulder and will undergo an MRI to verify the injury.

Siemian suffered the injury on a sack by Colts linebacker Barkevious Mingo toward the end of the first quarter when the quarterback said his “elbow king of went into the ground funny.”

“I knew something wasn’t right, right away,” Siemian told reporters after the game. “It wasn’t fun.”

The third-year pro was taken for x-rays on the shoulder and never returned to the game.

It’s the second major injury regarding the non-throwing shoulder in the past year for Siemian, who was 5-of-9 passing for 67 yards, one interception, and a passer rating of 39.8 at the time he left the game.

In January, he underwent surgery to correct a separated left shoulder, which he played with during much of the 2016 season.

“Well, I’m glad it’s not my right shoulder. That’s a positive,” Siemian said after the game. “I’ll find out more tomorrow, I’m sure, but yeah, the left should hasn’t been real good to me so far.”

Backup Brock Osweiler, who took over under center for the Broncos trailing 7-0, led the offense on a 25-3 run to erase an eventual 10-point deficit, throwing for two touchdowns and running in one in the come-from-behind win.

After the game, head coach Vance Joseph said Osweiler, along with C.J. Anderson and the Broncos offensive line, earned game balls for their efforts Thursday.

“It was so cool to see Brock come in and play the way he did,” Siemian said. “The offensive line played lights out, ran over 200 yards. C.J. had a heck of a day. And to see everybody kind of step up and hold their own was really cool to see.”
