The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Big Al is back, baby! Al weighs in on what Tony Romo deciding to join the broadcasting booth does to the Broncos chances of hoisting the Lombardi trophy in ’17 & how Gonzaga cost themselves a chance at glory. Also, Troy Renck of Denver7 joins Big Al & DMac to talk how the Broncos really feel about the current QB’s on the roster.
Jerry Jones looks to have done right by Tony Romo, after all. CBS makes a power move for Tony Romo as a broadcaster, and looks to replace Phil Simms with Romo this upcoming season. DMac says Broncos fans will be seeing a lot of Tony Romo, since CBS owns the rights to many AFC matchups on NFL Sundays. Al asks DMac who wouldn’t want to see Niagra Falls & DMac plays some audio from Romo’s conference call announcing he will be joining the broadcasting booth even though the Houston Texans caught his eye. Al thought the local kid Josh Perkins played like a superstar in the first half of the National Championship, and DMac wonders if Al lost any respect for Tony Romo when he decided to walk away from football.
Romo says it had everything to do with CBS and Houston was at the top of his list. DMac wonders how often Tony Romo talks golf, and says the Broncos knew something we didn’t in the Tony Romo saga. Al can’t understand why fans saw Romo as a bad move in Denver, and DMac laughs as the guys try to find Kyle Orton’s playoff record. Troy Renck of Denver7 joins Big Al & DMac to talk how the Broncos really feel about the current QB’s on the roster. Troy doesn’t see the Broncos bringing in a veteran like Kaepernick to promote competition considering they have Austin Davis for that. Part of why Denver wasn’t in on Romo may have been Vance Joseph’s added confidence in the QB’s that are already here after he got a good look at them. Listen to the interview HERE!
Dreaming of Dak & Deshaun while being stuck with Siemian & Lynch, Big Al & DMac break down why KC would want somebody with the “it” factor like Watson. DMac wonders what the listeners would be willing to give up for a Tom Brady-type, and what is Von Miller’s value. The generational talent that is Myles Garrett, and how crucial it will be for the Broncos to have various styles of offense like New England. The guys agree that golf needs to relax, and the speed of play can be improved following the Lexi Thompson disaster. Also, what it feels like to never be a champion like Romo & Marino.
