Buffs land former four-star Crimson Tide linebacker in Signing Day surprise

Feb 1, 2023, 12:46 PM

The Colorado Buffaloes made a somewhat unexpected splash on Wednesday’s Signing Day, getting Demouy Kennedy to announce his commitment via transfer.

Kennedy spent three seasons with Alabama entering the portal last month. He only played in 24 games for the Crimson Tide, recording seven tackles on defense and also getting seven rushing attempts on offense in 2021. A standout special teamer, his expected breakout 2022 season was completely derailed by injuries.

The linebacker/sometimes running back will have three years to play two in Boulder

Coming out of Theodore, Alabama he was a four-star prospect ranked No. 35 overall nationally by 247 Sports. The top player in his state in 2020 played in the Under Armour All-America Game before joining Charles Kelly’s Alabama.

Kelly, now Colorado’s new defensive coordinator will get to utilize Kennedy at Folsom Field. He’ll have former Clemson linebacker Vonta Bentley at inside linebackers as well. Kennedy and Bentley are among the many stars joining Deion Sanders for his first season in Boulder.
