The oddsmakers think the Broncos will be a borderline playoff team in 2023

They haven’t signed a free agent yet, filling some of their glaring roster gaps. The NFL Draft is still three months away, with a first-round pick liking looming. And they don’t even know who their head coach will be, as the search has continued into a third week.

Yet, the folks at SuperBook think the Broncos are a borderline playoff team. Their way-too-early odds for Super Bowl LVIII suggest that Denver will be a contender.

Fourteen teams make the playoffs every year. Only 12 franchises currently have better odds of winning the Super Bowl than the Broncos. Thus, it can be inferred that Denver is right on the fringe.

That said, things are a little dicier when broken down by conference. SuperBook has seven AFC teams ahead of the Broncos, which would put Russell Wilson and company on the outside looking in.

Denver is also tied with three other AFC teams at +4000. One way to interpret that positioning is that the Broncos – along with the Browns, Jets and Raiders – need to have a good offseason in order to jump into the mix with the Chiefs, Bengals, Bills, Chargers, Ravens, Jaguars and Dolphins.

That starts with a head coach, continues with free agency and culminates with the draft. But at least there appears to be a foundation to build upon in Denver.
