Russell Wilson gets choked up when asked about teammates defending him

The Broncos had the back of their embattled QB Russell Wilson earlier this week.
Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler, Garett Bolles and others defended Wilson on social media after yet another negative article surfaced about the Denver quarterback. And while a lot of the criticism of Wilson is warranted, the personal stuff feels like it goes too far.
After the Broncos fell to the Chiefs 27-24 on Sunday in Kansas City, Wilson was asked about what the support meant to him. Both James Palmer of NFL Network and Michael Spencer of CBS4 captured the video. Wilson gets pretty choked up at the start, before composing himself and giving a more lengthy answer.

“It meant the world to me because I give my all every day. I don’t know anything less. So, I’m grateful for these guys, because they work their butts off, and for them to have my back…” Wilson said before trailing off.
Wilson played better on Sunday, completing 26-38 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for two more scores, while accounting for 27 yards with his legs. Wilson did throw an unfortunate interception, which helped contribute to the loss.
It’s all part of his roller-coaster season, but he showed some emotion postgame that proved he sees and hears the noise just like the rest of us. And while it’s tough for fans, it has to be tough for Wilson as well, regardless of how much money he’s making.
