The three best moments from Coach Prime’s introductory press conference

Dec 4, 2022, 6:31 PM

The Colorado Buffaloes made a splash in hiring Deion Sanders and unsurprisingly the two-sport star won the press conference.

The only person in sports history to play in both a Super Bowl and World Series has long had the gift of gab. A few moments from his first public comments as CU coach are already going viral. Here are the three best moments of Coach Prime’s first day in Boulder.

1: Prime’s speech

During Sanders’ first remarks he broke out an impassioned speech about how the Colorado Buffaloes are coming and how he feels he owes fans for the opportunity at his newest gig.

“We are on the way, not to compete but to win. Not to show up but to show out. Not to be among the rest but to be the absolute best. We’re coming to work, we’re not coming to play. We’re coming to kill not to kick it. Baby I got to believe that we’re coming. You got to feel the energy inside of you that we’re coming. Don’t you? You got to feel it that we’re gonna be there. You got to feel it when you get in that stadium you better get in there early because the time we kick off—baby we’re coming. Do you understand that? Do you feel that? Do you understand the feeling, the excitement, the intensity, the adrenaline, the rush I have right now that I can’t wait till this thing kicks off because we are coming. Boulder Colorado you have no idea what you blessed me with, the opportunity you’ve given me and I feel like I owe you. So everyday I’m going to work for you I’m going to strain for you. I’m going to develop for you, I’m going to commit for you, I’m going to do the thing others wouldn’t do. Baby we’re coming. So if anyone asks you, you say I know he’s coming.”

2: Shedeur Sanders

Deion is the new leader of the CU Buffs but he dropped the news that his son will be the signal caller. Coach Prime announced during his introductory press conference. His son, Shedeur Sanders, a sophomore at Jackson State where his father was the coach, can officially enter the transfer portal on Monday. The moment was one to remember.

3: Expectations

Prime isn’t scared of expectations and he made that clear when he answered a question from 9News.

“Do I look like a man that worries about anything? I’m too blessed to be stressed,” Prime quipped. “I’ve never been one for peer pressure, I put pressure on peers. I’ve never been one to worry. I make people worry.”
