Unfortunately, Russell Wilson’s b-day party attendance is now a discussion

Are you a birthday party was half attended or a birthday party was half not attended, type of person?

Denver Broncos superstar quarterback Russell Wilson’s birthday party was attended by about half the team, according to Mike Klis of 9News and 104.3 The Fan’s Broncos Insider. The party, thrown by Wilson’s popstar wife Ciara, was on Tuesday night for the gunslinger’s 34th birthday.

The reports of get-together attendance comes hours after an NFL Network report ripped Wilson and suggested that he’s lost part of the Broncos’ locker room. Klis spin of the party suggests it’s a good thing that half of Denver’s team was there to wish Wilson a good one, but it ignores the fact that half the team wasn’t around.

The story has shades of the movie Draft Day, where there were red flags about the fictional first-overall pick Bo Callahan because he had no teammates at his 21st birthday party.

Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk points out that the party was likely a nice bash.

Think about it. Ciara is throwing the party. It was surely swanky, with plenty of great food and drink and entertainment and whatever. Unless only half the team was invited (which would be a separate issue), why wouldn’t everyone go?

Aside from the NFL Network report from this week, there have been plenty of issues between Wilson and teammates in the past. Just this past Sunday Mike Purcell blew up on the quarterback on Denver’s sideline. Since Wilson’s blockbuster trade from Seattle, plenty of former Seahawks have ripped Russ.

Of course, this is all coming as Wilson is leading the historically bad Denver offense to a league-worst 14 points per game. The former Super Bowl-winning quarterback who once hoped to be the savior for the Broncos appears to be a shell of his former self.

Now, this is the second straight season a former Super Bowl-winning star has created controversy for the Broncos over a party. Last year, Von Miller was dealt away after a dispute at his Halloween party. The issue about the October 2021 bash wasn’t even the first Broncos Halloween party that made headlines.

Going back to last season, Miller didn’t want to party while performing poorly, thinking it was a bad look. But at 3-8, Wilson was fine to throw what was probably—given the star power—the party of the year. Maybe his teammates hate him like his former one’s certainty seem to or maybe they didn’t want to celebrate while having such a bad season.

Overall it’s unsurprising for only half the 2022 Broncos to show up somewhere, that’s been the story the entire season, as the defense is the only unit to appear on gamedays.
