Oddsmakers pick Broncos to make like a bridge and fall in London to Jags

Oct 24, 2022, 1:04 PM

The Denver Broncos have lost four games in a row and travel half a world away to London this week to take on the Jaguars in a de facto home game for the normal Jacksonville residents.

The Jaguars have played multiple home games at Wembley over the last decade, with the 2022 contest being the first on a new three-year contract that sees the Florida club making England home once a year. Meanwhile, Denver has only traveled overseas for a regular-season game once, a 24-16 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in 2010.

Oddsmakers currently predict that the Jaguars will win the matchup by three to four points, with the line surely to bounce around a bit with Russell Wilson’s status for the game still up in the air.

The Broncos have yet to win on the road this season and are now 2-5 on the year, while the Jags are also 2-5. Denver is coming off a 16-9 home loss to the New York Jets, and Jacksonville took on their cross-town rival Giants this past Sunday, losing 23-17. Both the Broncos and Jags have primarily played one-score contests this season thus far.

This will be the 14th matchup between the franchises and the 12th in the regular season. The Broncos are 7-7 all-time against the Jags, last playing against each other in September of 2021 in Florida. The Broncos beat Jacksonville 23-13 in last year’s matchup.

A win would be a boost for Denver going into the bye, while a loss would be even more reason to sell and maybe make coaching changes next week with the time off and the coming trade deadline.
