Another day, another torn ACL for the Denver Broncos.

That’s three in the last three games. This is getting silly.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport broke the news that special teams cog Aaron Patrick is done for the year after tearing his ACL against the Chargers on Monday night.

The play Patrick got hurt on was fluky and unfortunate. He was trying to avoid a big collision on the overcrowded NFL sideline, and instead hurt himself.

Aaron joins another Patrick, wide receiver Tim, who tore his ACL in training camp. Javonte Williams shredded his knee against the Raiders and Ronald Darby tore his ACL against the Colts. Backup running back Damarea Crockett also tore his this summer at practice.

Patrick played special teams for the Broncos each of the last two seasons, recording eight tackles in 15 games in 2021 and three tackles through five games this year.

Is he a household name? Nope, but that doesn’t diminish how much this stinks for him. Again, to have it happen on such a fluky moment adds insult to injury.

And the banged up Broncos continue to lead the NFL in injuries. Some of that could be bad luck, but some of it also has to be chalked up to their very light training camp. This season continues to unravel.
