Hackett once again takes the blame for yet another ugly Broncos loss

Oct 17, 2022, 10:13 PM

This is groundhog day.

There’s really no other way to describe the 2022 Denver Broncos right now.

It was another inexcusable OT loss on Monday night, this time to the Chargers by a final score of 19-16. The Broncos were going to get the ball back in overtime, before Montrell Washington and P.J. Locke ran into each other, muffing a punt that gave the ball back to Los Angeles. A few plays later, Dustin Hopkins kicked a walk-off field goal. The Broncos are now 2-4.

And outside of a good first half drive for a touchdown, Russell Wilson and the Denver offense once again looked terrible. Wilson threw for just 15 yards in the second half and OT. 15! That’s almost hard to wrap your mind around.

After the game, head coach Nathaniel Hackett was asked how frustrated he is with the offense. It’s become a weekly theme, as Denver’s group is the worst in the NFL right now. Once again, Hackett took the blame, but fans are sick of hearing about it.

“First and foremost, it starts with me. I feel like I can do more. And continually work to try to find the best schemes for our players. We’ll have to look at this game and see where some of those things broke down. We’ve got to come up with better plays for the guys and the guys got to be better at executing them. So, it’s a combination of all of us working together, coming together, and making sure we’re doing all the right stuff,” Hackett said.

Again, this product has been bad for six games in a row. Denver scored the dreaded 16 points for the third time this season. And at 0-3 on the road, Hackett better get it fixed fast, or the Broncos might just leave him on one of these trips.

There aren’t enough negative words to describe this football team right now, particularly the offense. What a frustrating, brutal time to be a fan of the Broncos.
