Are the Denver Broncos hoping another former local high school star will help their running back room?
After striking gold with Phillip Lindsay (Denver South) for a couple of seasons, the team is back at it again. According to 9NEWS and 104.3 The Fan Broncos insider Mike Klis, the Broncos are giving a former Pomona standout a shot.

Max Borghi ran for 1,690 yards his senior year at Pomona and scored 27 touchdowns. He finished his high school career with more than 3,500 rushing yards and 50 touchdowns. Borghi played his college ball at Washington State before being undrafted in April. He signed with the Indianapolis Colts on May 13 before being released just five days later.
Borghi had very good sophomore and senior seasons at WSU, rushing for more than 800 yards in each campaign and scoring 11 rushing touchdowns in 2019 and 12 TDs in 2021. He also caught 86 passes for 597 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore.
The Broncos were looking for running back depth, after Damarea Crockett tore his ACL in practice on Tuesday. Crockett played 12 games for the Broncos in 2021.
Obviously, Javonte Williams, Melvin Gordon and Mike Boone are Denver’s top three RBs. But Crockett had a chance to make the 53-man roster, and Borghi will as well if he can stand out on special teams.
People didn’t give Lindsay much of a chance when he first signed, and that worked out pretty well. We’ll see if Borghi can overcome similar odds.
