Get the coffee and doughnuts ready, the Broncos and Jaguars Week 8 kickoff is going to be extremely early.
We already knew the two teams would start at 7:30 a.m. MT, but now we know who will be in your ears.
ESPN announced on Tuesday the broadcast crew will be Steve Levy on play-by-play, Dan Orlovsky and Louis Riddick providing analysis and Laura Rutledge roaming the sidelines.
The game is exclusively on ESPN+ nationally, but a source told DenverFan’s Andrew Mason it will be over-the-air in the Denver and Jacksonville markets. What channel that broadcast will air on is to be determined.
Fans should recognize all four names on the broadcast crew, but particularly Levy, as he’s done play-by-play three of the last four years on KTVD channel 20 for Broncos preseason games. The NFL cancelled the preseason in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Levy was on the microphone in 2018, 2019 and 2021. He worked with former Broncos QB Brian Griese, who is now the San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks coach.
Griese, Riddick and Levy did Monday Night Football games the last two seasons, but will be replaced by Joe Buck and Troy Aikman this year, formally of FOX. Orlovsky had an underwhelming NFL career but has enjoyed a meteoric rise as an analyst for ESPN. Rutledge has anchored “SportsCenter” and been with the network for nearly a decade.
